CodeVita
“ Code is like humor. When you have to explain it, it’s bad.”
An online coding contest, “CodeVita” was organized by members of the CodeChef CIEM Chapter for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-year students from all the departments of Calcutta Institute of Engineering and Management. It was a 5-day long contest which started on the 26th of December, 2020 around 05:00 PM of the evening till 05:00 PM of 31st of December, 2020.
The contest was hosted on the CodeChef platform to make competitors get used to practicing coding on it. This contest was aimed to help students to ignite the spark of Competitive Programming and spread its concepts and culture in our college.
Codechef has been proudly promoting Competitive Programming as a sport among students of various fields. Students from all fields can participate and compete to win the best coder crown. CodeVita contest organized by the Codechef-CIEM Chapter was one of them. Students from all years and departments participated and competed against each other to get the crown of Best Coder of Calcutta Institute of Engineering and Management. With this contest, CodeChef-CIEM Chapter aimed to make more students get into the habit of Competitive Coding.
The contest comprised of 5 questions with a difficulty level ranging from Beginners to Intermediate level, but all the questions were easy to solve. Each participant was given 10 chances per problem to submit the correct answer. Based upon how many chances a participant took, ranks were given accordingly. The Top Performers of the contest were given a Certificate of Achievement along with CodeChef Laddus (Points which can be redeemed to avail CodeChef swags), while a Certificate of Participation is given to all the participants who were able to solve at least one problem by making a successful submit.
A total of 25 students from all years and departments of Calcutta Institute of Engineering and Management participated in the CodeVita contest. Amongst them, 5 rose to the position of the Top Performer. They were:

2. Nandini Maitra (Department: IT; Year: 3rd)
3. Tanmoy Malakar (Department: IT; Year: 3rd)
4. Ranadip Ghosh (Department: IT; Year: 3rd)
5. Abir Bhattacharya (Department: IT; Year: 2nd)
All the Top Performers got a shoutout on all of our Social Media sites along with the above-mentioned prizes. The contest was a huge success as the number of participants who attended exceeded our expectations and the contest was indeed a lively and educative one. This can be concluded as many have started getting into the habit of Competitive Programming; which was our main aim.
